    Reccomendations for my first 1911

I don't know anything about 1911's except I do want one. With the amount of choices out there from a lot of great companies, which would you guys reccomend. I would like a 10mm but would consider a 45 as well.
Also are there any I should flat out stay away from.

I've held and checked out but not fired the new 1911 model from Ruger. It seems like a fine gun from what I saw and read about. The price is right too. Check 'em out. It couldn't hurt. Maybe you'll like them...

I'm looking to spend around 1500.00, my list so far is kimber10 mm, and the Sig scorpion 1911 in .45. With threaded barrel.

Try Springfield Armory. I have had two SA M1911A1s since 1987, shooting at pin matches every two weeks. They are great, durable guns.

I really like the Springfield 1911's and the new RO line seems like a great new line. I'm leaning towards the new RO compact with the 4 in Barrel. From what I've seen it shoots good and isn't hard to carry concealed.

I have 3 Kimbers and 2 Dan Wessons. All great guns. All have been super reliable.

Would be my first choice at most anything under $1000.
