    Post The better .22

In your opinion which is the better .22 rifle mosberg 702 or ruger 10/22? The reason I'm asking the question is I just got my rifle permit for NYC and due to our great gun laws here I'm only allowed one gun every 90days and I don't want to waste my money on something cheap. I'd rather get use to useing a rifle befor buy my .308's and shotguns. so any feedback is appreciated. Also the 10/22 is painted in camo for those who like painting your guns.

I've heard nothing but good things about the 10/22 and how versatile they are. I don't have one personally and I'm far from an expert of the two but, it would be the 10/22 for me.

Wolf, bro I'm a big fan of the 10/22. This is going to be my next rifle. I also have never heard of a complaint about them. Only good things.

The 10/22 is fine. I'm just suggesting .22 mag instead of .22LR. big, big difference between the two.

I would definitely recommend the 10/22 Ruger, Mossberg tends to go for the look of the firearm in a more affordable package... Ruger 10/22 is such an old proven rifle, it's very reliable and accurate. I can say by all accounts of the many people who I have talked to on this very question over many years Ruger 10/22 was the favorite number one "Plinker". All the plastic parts on the mossberg (on their assault rifle model) that look cool from far away are disappointing up close, not equalled in quality of the Ruger. Specifically, the Mossberg 702 you are looks better up close than the AR-Type that they make. I haven't fired that model, hopefully my friends aren't simply mossberg haters, maybe they brainwashed me a bit...Good luck and good shooting...👍

Thanks for the advice the only downside is i'm in the great gun loveing state of NY and everything is more expensive. A 10/22 is $260 which is the cheapest rifle here in NY.
