Question I'm building a "Survival" rifle: Any suggestions?

I recently bought a brand new Ruger 10/22 Tactical model.

Anyway, I'm planning on turning it into a Survival/SHTF Rifle and I was looking for some recommendations on some upgrades.

    What do you think?

You will need a sling to carry it, and get some 25 round ruger mags, if you go for a sight I would go for a scope rather than a red dot, get a pack that fits on the butt to carry cleaning snake and some oil, and some spare ammo. Make a ammo pouch for the sling. Thats my twopence worth

Do you know of anyway to attach a sling without drilling into the stock of the rifle?
