Thread: My first Firearm purchase!

    My first Firearm purchase!

Most people start with .22's, but I wanted something bigger...
    I bought myself a 1938 Mosin Nagant 91/30 in 7.62x54R
It's nothing special, but it was cheap and bigger than a .22 so I grabed it lol
I actually enjoy shooting it and it's a great piece for $100!

One of the best guns to buy. Can't beat the price. I mean you basically just bought a .30-06 for $100. I love mosins

I agree. A nice 30-06 would have cost me about 4 or 5 times what I paid for this and there is almost no difference in power. Surplus ammo is not my favorite, but you can't beat 20 rounds for $5 lol bulk sizes are even cheaper in the long run. I would like to "sporterize" the Mosin a bit though. It would be nice to have a decent Mid-Range scope on it. When I shoot it is mostly target shooting anywhere from 50 yards to 200 yards plus. Iron sights really don't do it justice at longer range.

True. Have you seen these http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/9-59589 If you're trying to "sport" up your mosin these are kinda cool. They also make a nice pic rail that you can put in place of the rear sight.

that's a pretty cool stock. I might look into that at some later point. Right now I am focused on Optics. My current stock is in decent condition so a new one will be a later project. And the pic rail is definitely something I'm looking into
