    Ultimate Defense

I live in the Saint Louis area and highly recommend Ultimate Defense for gun training they run a great "first shots" course for people new to firearms they also have a free educational course aimed at Kids to show them what to do if they find a firearm. The range itself is new and clean with very helpful staff.

They have a shoot house and run a Civilian Response to Armed Confrontation course this is run by police officers (who own and run the range) it uses non lethal ammo and uses several scenarios to train you in how to respond, its a very good course, they also do tactical AR and tactical shotgun as well as the usual trigger time courses. Great place, great people.

Ultimate Defense Firing Range & Training Center is proud to present Civilian Response to Armed Confrontation. This course is an intense block of instruction that has traditionally only been offered to law enforcement and military personnel. The course is designed to immerse you in multiple reality based scenarios that truly test your mental and physical preparedness to deal with real world encounters while still providing the highest level of student safety.
In this course you will be provided all necessary equipment including state-of-the-art General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Simunition® Training Equipment. Our Simunition® handguns look and perform exactly the same as a normal handgun but are engineered to exclusively fire FX ® training ammunition and will not chamber live ammo. FX® Training rounds leave a “star” shaped detergent based water soluble signature upon impact which takes all the guess work out of evaluating round placement. You will also be provided Simunition® face protection and all other necessary safety gear.
Civilian Response to Armed Confrontation instructors are current active duty police officers who are use of force experts and typically are either active duty, or former, SWAT officers. All our instructors undergo a five day Simunition® instructor program and Ultimate Defense Firing Range is the only Simunition® Certified Training Facility in Missouri. Our role players are trained to maximize the “real world” aspects and provide valuable perspective to each encounter. Enrollment in the course is limited to maximize the amount of individual instruction given to each student.
The course is held on site at Ultimate Defense Firing Range in our Advanced Tactical Training Area. The Training Area has been engineered to include modular walls that give us a nearly unlimited ability to simulate stores, service businesses, office settings as well as residential floor plans. An overhead safety / instructor observation area along with total control over the environment to include lighting, temperature and other aspects all contribute to making this course truly the best, and most realistic, training that is available.
